Sure it takes some practice, but it is worth it to be able to perform one of the most impressive close-up effects. Remember the rising card trick. Someone choosed a card and it is replaced in the deck. The magician place the deck in a coffee mug. The chosen card then rise out of the deck on it’s own. This trick is extremely easy to perform. When a trick is easy it allows you to focus on the performance. Another nice thing about the rising card trick is that you can involve multiple spectators. You could have three people choose cards and each card would rise out one at a time.
